Depart Paris in the morning and travel west through the Norman countryside with your private guide. En route, enjoy a relaxed stop for coffee and fresh pastries while your guide introduces the events of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.
Arrive in Arromanches to see the remains of Mulberry Harbour, the innovative floating port constructed by the Allies to support the invasion. Continue to the German battery at Longues-sur-Mer, where original artillery guns still face the Channel, offering insight into the strength of the Atlantic Wall.
Visit Omaha Beach, one of the most significant American landing sites of 6 June 1944, where U.S. forces faced intense resistance during the initial assault. Continue to the Normandy American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, overlooking the beach, where nearly 9,400 American service members are laid to rest. Your guide will share the stories behind this powerful memorial site.
After lunch at a traditional Norman restaurant, continue to Juno Beach and the Juno Beach Centre, dedicated to the Canadian landings of 6 June 1944. The day concludes at Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery, where over 2,000 Canadian soldiers are laid to rest.
Overnight in Bayeux, a historic town known for its cathedral, medieval streets, and relaxed atmosphere.
Day Two: Mont-Saint-Michel and Saint-Malo
Travel west to the extraordinary island of Mont-Saint-Michel. With your private guide, explore the abbey’s Romanesque church, Gothic cloisters, refectory, and chapels, learning about its religious, military, and architectural significance. Time is allowed to wander the narrow streets and enjoy views across the tidal bay.
After lunch at a local bistro, continue to Saint-Malo on Brittany’s rugged coastline. Walk the granite ramparts that encircle the old town and visit Saint-Vincent Cathedral, a landmark tied to explorers and maritime trade. If time allows, visit the Alet Peninsula to see Roman ruins alongside Second World War fortifications.
Overnight at a refined seaside hotel overlooking the Atlantic.
Day Three: Vannes, Gulf of Morbihan and Saint-Nazaire
Begin the day in Vannes with a guided walk through its medieval centre, passing half-timbered houses, Roman remains, and St Peter’s Cathedral. Learn about Brittany’s independent past and its union with France.
Continue to the Gulf of Morbihan, one of France’s most beautiful bays, known for its shifting light, calm waters, and scattered islands. Depending on timing, stops may include coastal viewpoints or the riverside village of La Roche-Bernard for lunch.
In Saint-Nazaire, explore the vast German submarine base, now repurposed as a place of reflection and culture. Visit Escal’Atlantic, an immersive exhibition that recreates the experience of travelling aboard a grand ocean liner, connecting the town’s shipbuilding heritage to transatlantic travel history.
Overnight in central Nantes.
Day Four: Cognac and Arrival in Bordeaux
Travel south to the riverside town of Cognac for a private visit to Rémy Martin. Discover the craftsmanship behind one of France’s most prestigious spirits, with the option of a guided estate tour or a heritage-focused experience, both concluding with tastings.
Enjoy lunch in Cognac or nearby Jonzac before continuing through the Charente countryside and into the vineyards of the Gironde. Arrive in Bordeaux in the late afternoon and settle into your luxury hotel.
Day Five: Saint-Émilion and Bordeaux
Spend the day exploring Saint-Émilion, a UNESCO-listed village surrounded by renowned vineyards. Visit historic wine estates for guided tastings and learn about the Jurade, one of Europe’s oldest wine guilds.
Explore the Monolithic Church, carved entirely from limestone in the 12th century, before enjoying lunch in the village or back in Bordeaux.
In the afternoon, discover Bordeaux on foot with your guide. Highlights include Place de la Bourse and its reflecting pool, the Grand Théâtre, Place des Quinconces, and the elegant riverfront, home to more than 350 classified historic monuments. Optional additional wine visits can be arranged for collectors and enthusiasts.
Day Six: Vouvray and the Loire Valley
Depart Bordeaux and travel north to the Loire Valley. Stop in the Vouvray wine region to visit ancient troglodyte cellars carved into limestone cliffs. Enjoy a guided tasting of local wines, with the option to pair with regional cheeses and charcuterie.
After lunch, visit Château du Clos Lucé in Amboise, the final home of Leonardo da Vinci. Explore his private apartments, chapel, and gardens, where large-scale models of his inventions bring his ideas to life.
Overnight in Amboise, a charming town on the banks of the Loire.
